AIBE XIX 2024: Supreme Court allows all final year students to appear for All India Bar Examination 2024
The Supreme Court of India has made a significant decision, allowing final-year law students to appear for the All-India Bar Examination (AIBE) scheduled for November 24, 2024. This interim order was passed by a bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, while hearing a petition challenging a recent Bar Council of India (BCI) notification.

The BCI notification had initially prohibited final-year law students from taking the AIBE XIX exam, but the petitioners argued that this decision contradicted the Constitutional Bench judgment in Bar Council of India v. Bonnie Foi Law College & Ors.The judgment stipulates that final-year law students should be allowed to appear for the AIBE.

Key Points to Note-

Eligibility Criteria- Students who have cleared all examinations required to pursue the final semester of their law course can take the AIBE exam, provided they present proof.

Registration Deadline- The online registration and application process for AIBE 19 exams have commenced, with the last date for students to apply being October 25, 2024.

Exam Validity-The result of the AIBE exam will be subject to the person passing all components required under their university/college course and will remain valid only for a specific period .

This decision is a significant relief for final-year law students, ensuring they don't lose a year. For more information and updates on the AIBE exam, you can visit AIBE website.
